Overview

To the north of Vietnam’s cultural capital lies the cosmopolitan city of Da Nang, hugging the coast of the East Vietnam Sea with a fantastic mix of natural beauty and urban sprawl. Its tranquil lifestyle is born of its proximity to some of Vietnam’s best natural attractions, two of which, Son Tra Mountain and Marble Mountain, feature on our Hoi An – Da Nang Jeep Tour, along with Da Nang’s impressive city attractions.

Beginning at the stunning Son Tra Peninsula, we visit Linh Ung Pagoda and soak up the incredible coastal views, before heading into the city, over its emblematic bridges and to Han Market, the epicenter of Da Nang’s activity. We have lunch and head to the Cham Museum to discover the history of the Champa country before its assimilation into Vietnam and Cambodia, before finishing with a trip to the religious enclave atop Marble Mountain and heading back to Hoi An. Itinerary

Activities: Driving around Son Tra Mountain and visiting Linh Ung Pagoda on its cliffs. Shopping at Han Market and having lunch before visiting the Cham Museum and exploring Marble Mountain on the way back to Hoi An.

08.00: We depart from your hotel in the morning and take the coastal road north to the Son Tra Peninsula. This rugged outcrop provides the most amazing views of Da Nang and the crescent beach against which the city is pressed.

09.00: The stunning Linh Ung Pagoda will be our first stop. This 21st-century Buddhist temple stands as a mix of ancient and contemporary architecture overlooking the stretching expanse of Da Nang.

09.30: We follow one of the great ocean roads of Vietnam around Son Tra Mountain, visiting a banyan tree standing for over 1,000 years while snapping pictures of the ocean vistas and jungle-coated cliffs as we go.

10.00: We head down the mountain to discover the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Da Nang. We cross the Han River Bridge, which affords great views of Cau Rong, Da Nang’s Golden Dragon Bridge. Arriving at the city center and Han Market, we scour the area for great deals before relaxing with a Vietnamese coffee outside.

12.00: We will have a relaxed lunch, watching the equally relaxed pace of Da Nang pass us by outside.

13.30: We pay a visit to the Cham Museum, a wonderful place to learn of the proud history of the Cham people and the land of Champa, with the world’s biggest collection of art and sculptures created by members of the Cham ethnic group.

15.00: On our way back to Hoi An, we stop off at Marble Mountain to enjoy the many pagodas built into this reverential rock. We ascend the stone steps to Thuy Son (Water Mountain) and enjoy the beach and countryside landscapes viewable from the top.
