Greet one of Asia’s longest river systems in style, via a speedboat along its wide waterways. The Mekong Delta Full Day by Speedboat tour gives you the chance to do exactly that. We head from Ho Chi Minh City along the ancient river, spotting quintessential Vietnamese scenery along the way and getting off to explore fruit orchards, handicraft workshops and the nearby pagodas of idyllic Vietnamese villages across the banks of the Mekong River.

Itinerary

Activities: Soaking up the views on the speedboat before seeing the various attractions of the humble Mekong Delta first-hand. After, we have lunch with a local and head back to Ho Chi Minh City by speedboat.

Await pick-up at your hotel at about 08.00 am; our driver will take you to Bach Dang Pier on the Saigon River.

We board our sleek speedboat and zip along the winding river, taking in views of Saigon’s city skyline as we snake south towards the Mekong Delta. Here we will be greeted by some iconic Vietnamese sites: water buffalo ploughing the rice fields, farmers in conical hats picking exotic fruits off the trees around abundant orchards, tiny fishing vessels casting their nets into a waterway teeming with freshwater fish…

We step off the boat to experience the daily life of Mekong residents up close. Photo opportunities abound as we walk along village paths, marvelling at the rewards reaped from the fertile alluvial soil that provides plentiful food in the form rice, various nuts and seeds, pineapples, coconuts, dragon fruit and the notorious durian.

Enjoy some of the local produce at a homestay, where our friendly host will show us the sweet, refreshing taste of the region’s flourishing coconut, before sending us away with the kick of a fiery Mekong whiskey.

Lunch will consist of local specialities around the Mekong, such as fried elephant ear fish, fresh and fried spring rolls, and the delectable lemongrass chicken.

We take a look around a nearby pagoda before climbing back onto the speedboat to check out more of the Mekong Delta’s various wonders. We wind our way back to Saigon in the late afternoon, enjoying the majestic scene as the long shadows of coconut trees gradually turn into the long shadows of the city across the water. We will arrive at Bach Dang pier and transfer you back to your hotel, marking the end of the Mekong Delta Full Day by Speedboat tour.
