Activities: Taking a tour of Hanoi’s highlights through its sites of ancient and recent history, while seeing how modern culture has developed since wartime.
Eat breakfast in your hotel and wait in the lobby at 08:00 for the guide. We head out on a tour of Hanoi, starting at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to see the national hero’s final resting place before continuing to his nearby former residence. Just around the corner, we see the One-Pillar Pagoda, then take the short walk to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s oldest university with over 1,000 years of Confucian education history within its walls.
Try out some of Vietnam’s most treasured cuisine for lunch and take the drive to the Museum of Ethnology. Here we will learn of the diversity between Vietnam’s 54 ethnicities and tread the wooden floors of full-scale hill tribe house replicas outside.
We head back to the Old Quarter to travel the colonial way – via cyclo. We skirt around the fringes of Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple before taking an enlightening stroll down the web-like alleyways of Hanoi’s bustling centre.

Activities: Visiting the residence of ancient kings at Hoa Lu and enjoying the serene nature of nearby Tam Coc.
Between 08:00 and 08:30, our guide will collect you from your hotel lobby and take you about 2 hours south to Ninh Binh Province. We will see the sites of Hoa Lu, Vietnam’s ancient capital for 44 years, spanning the two rules of King Dinh and King Le who are immortalised in temples here.
Following this, we drive to Tam Coc and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. We head to the dock of the Ngo Dong River where we will board the sampan boats operated by the locals here. A rower will take us down the river using only their feet, through eerie caves and along the sides of gorgeous rice paddies sheltered by tall limestone mountains.
We jump onto our bicycles after returning to the dock and cycle through scenes of village life and the glorious plateau of rice fields, stretching far across flat ground to the majestic mountain ranges in the distance.

Activities: Transferring to Halong Bay and taking a wonderful cruise around one of the most recognised landscapes in the world.
Breakfast in the hotel is followed by a transfer to Vietnam’s northeastern corner – the resplendent Halong Bay. Embark upon your traditional junk boat across the bay, marvelling at the glorious tree-topped cliffs rising proudly from the ocean floor, and enjoying a delicious lunch as you do so.
As part of the 2-day, 1-night itinerary in Halong Bay, you will have the chance to kayak along the tranquil waters to discover various coves, lagoons and forested outcrops. There will also be a visit to a cave to hear about the natural formation of the bay, as well as the locals’ legendary tales that are irrevocably tied to the rocks found within.
Your cruise will allow for plenty of relaxation time on the sundeck or in your cabin. There will be an informative cooking demonstration on board, followed by a glorious sunset between the peaks of the karst rocks. A wonderful dinner in the romantically lit dining room will precede evening activities, which include squid fishing, board games, socialising at the bar or retiring to your cabin for quiet reflection in Halong Bay’s nighttime tranquility.

Activities: Finishing the second day of your Halong Bay cruise and heading to Hanoi airport for your flight to Luang Prabang.
Greet the sunrise this morning with tai chi on the sundeck, the perfect way to energise yourself for the day ahead. Head downstairs for breakfast and freshen up in your cabin before we dock at Titop Island. We have three potential activities here: swimming in the calm water, lying back on the pristine sands or scaling the 400 steps to the summit of the island, where your reward will be an amazing panorama over Halong Bay.
Return to the cruise for checking out and having one final lunch before the ship pulls into the harbour. Board the transfer car to Hanoi airport to catch your flight to Luang Prabang. Our Laotian guide will collect you on arrival and take you to your downtown hotel.

Activities: Cruising up the Mekong River, stopping at the holy Pak Ou Caves and finishing the day at the Nam Ou Riverside Resort.
We have a relaxed breakfast at the hotel, after which we head to the banks of the Mekong River to catch a cruise upstream. There will be glorious panoramic views of the countryside as we cruise northwards, and the opportunity for fantastic photos at the Pak Ou Caves, two riverside caverns full of glistening Buddha statues left my pilgrims to this holy place. After this, we dock at Ban Xang Hai village for lunch and perhaps a taste of the locally-brewed rice wine, famous throughout the region.
We cruise further along the Nam Ou River in the afternoon, stopping at the Nam Ou Riverside Resort to find utter serenity by its pool, which is surrounded by lush jungle vegetation.

Activities: Trying out ancient farming techniques, visiting local workshops, discovering the beauty of Kuang Si Waterfalls and heading back to Luang Prabang via the Bear Rescue Centre and a shop promoting diverse, traditional wares.
After breakfast on the gorgeous banks of the Nam Ou River, we depart for a series of rice farms in the rural surrounds of Luang Prabang. Settle into the mountainous landscape as we try our hand at working the paddies, or simply observe traditional farming practices from the balcony, using the opportunity to learn of the diligence and devotion of Laotian farmers.
We take the time after this to visit workshops dedicated to local crafts, such as bamboo weaving, sugar cane processing and blacksmithing. We take a walk around a fragrant organic garden afterwards and hear of the uses for these natural herbs in medicine and cooking.
We are treated to a very scenic lunch overlooking the rice paddies before pressing on to the stunning Kuang Si Waterfalls. These are the largest waterfalls in the Luang Prabang region and consist of three tiers brimming with water of the most brilliant turquoise.
Following this, we visit the nearby Bear Rescue Centre, which houses around 20 animals rescued from bile farms and given free and protective roam outside. Heading back to town, we stop at the Ock Pop Tock Living Craft Center, a fantastic centre for beautiful crafts, made using traditional techniques. We can take one of the free tours to discover more about the centre’s history, heading to the bamboo terrace afterwards to watch sunset over the Mekong River.
