You will arrive to the culture-soaked capital of Hanoi, which has established itself as one of Asia’s greatest cities over the 1000 years it has spent as Vietnam’s capital. From here, we head to Hoa Lu and Tam Coc in Ninh Binh Province, where we find a strong historical and scenic identity on a walk, cruise and cycle across its beautiful rural surroundings. We finish in Halong Bay, a fantasy world turned real, where jutting limestone mountains atop an emerald sea comprise this legendary UNESCO site.

Activities: Arrive in Hanoi and take the first day at your leisure.
Step out of the gates of Hanoi airport and meet our friendly driver outside. They will take you directly into the city and drop off at your hotel, where you can check in any time after 14:00.
You will have free time in which to explore the city yourself. Hanoi is a capital buzzing with activity and you will always be able to find something interesting happening here.
There are no meals included on the first day. Please make your own arrangements for your meals and stay overnight in Hanoi.
Activities: Take the trip to Hoa Lu for a walking tour and Tam Coc for a boat ride and cycling tour before returning to Hanoi.
08:00 – 08:30: After collection from your hotel lobby, we will take the 2-hour trip down to Ninh Binh province. Enjoying the farming scenes of the Red River Delta en route as we begin our day trip to Hoa Lu and Tam Coc.
10:00 – 10:30: We arrive first at Hoa Lu, which in 968AD acted as the capital of Vietnam, then called Dai Co Viet. This small area was chosen by Emperor Dinh to be the seat of power because of its defensive advantages, but 42 years later the city fell and the capital was moved to Hanoi. Two temples here pay homage to the two emperors who ruled the country from Hoa Lu.
12:00: Next, we take the short drive south and arrive to a delicious buffet lunch at Tam Coc. We board a sampan boat after this and cruise serenely down the Ngo Dong River, taking in the sights of splendid caves, fields of rice planted directly into the riverbed and limestone rock formations reaching between 50m and 100m in height.
14:00: The views of majesty continue in Tam Coc, where we see the land-based attractions of the village on a cycling tour along quaint pathways. We cycle past stretching fields of green and gold rice paddies, reaching up to the foothills of imposing mountains in the background.
15:00: After returning to the head of the Ngo Dong River, we start the drive back to Hanoi, where we should arrive at about 17:00. You will have another magical evening to spend in the capital.

Activities: Begin the first day of your Halong Bay 2-day, 1-night tour by cruising and engaging in activities.

In the morning
Wait in your hotel lobby for the driver. They will be taking you eastwards across another stretch of the Red River Delta, giving you a further chance to enjoy one of the most ancient agricultural regions in Vietnam. Upon arriving at the harbour, we board the ship and head out into the limestone maze in front.
In the afternoon
Head to the dining room for a delicious lunch as we glide past the first of Halong Bay’s incredible mountain structures rising out of the sea. We pull up to the Surprising Cave and see how the beautiful grotto got its name by having a walking tour of its insides. We move from here to the neighbouring Titop Island, one of the few attractions with the Surprising Cave that make up the heart of Halong Bay. We dock at Titop and have some time to enjoy the beach, the sea and the viewing platform at the top, which is accessible by 427 steps through the jungle.
In the evening
Back aboard the cruise, a beautiful sunset will descend behind the karst mountains and a romantic, moonlit evening will begin. We start it off with a delicious dinner, after which you are free to relax anywhere on the boat, enjoying squid fishing, board games or simple relaxation in your cabin.

Activities: Complete your Halong Bay tour and return to Hanoi city or its airport.
Wake up slowly to the beautiful sight of sunrise in Halong Bay. A light breakfast will pave the way for our activity this morning - a trip to a fishing village - where we will have the freedom of kayaks or a local sampan boat to skirt around the floating commune and revel in the life lived out here.
Return to the boat and check out of the cabins after this. A delicious early lunch will be served as we approach the harbour, where we will disembark at about midday and return to Hanoi. We can drop you off at a hotel in the city or take you straight to the airport for your onwards flight.
