We arrive at Ham Luong dock and begin our cruise across the Luong River, a run-off of the Mekong River, with its tropical scenery of palm trees flanking the waterway.

We dock in several places and discover some of the local crafts and food of Ben Tre Province. Naturally, a lot of these involve inventive uses for coconuts, such as desiccated coconut, coconut candies, brooms made of coconut shells and artisans who use coir (coconut fibre) to craft functional household items and exquisite art as we journey through the local village on the Xe Loi, a traditional vehicle.
