After breakfast, we set out to the northwest of Ho Chi Minh City to Cu Chi Tunnels. A two-hour drive brings you to the web-like underground tunnels system of more than 250km in length which was like a secret city to support Viet Cong during the war. It is a great chance for you to experience a part of local life in the past, feel poignancy when you witness the hardships of war & enrich your knowledge. For those who are keen on you can try to fire an AK-47 or an MK16 rifle on a firing range (Fee is excluded).
Have lunch at a local restaurant near Cu Chi.
This afternoon, you will embark on a city tour of HCMC (Saigon) including the War Remnants Museum where a comprehensive collection of the machinery, weapons, photographs, and documentation of the Vietnam wars is displayed. Visit History Museum (closed on Mondays) or the Reunification Palace to witness the relics of the city’s tumultuous past. The tour also includes the Old Post Office, Saigon’s Chinatown (Cho Lon) typically with Binh Tay Market (the central market for the city and one of the most vivid areas). Mekong Delta boat trip
Activities: Depart from Saigon & set out to Mekong Delta to take the boat trip, transfer to Can Tho to stay overnight.
After breakfast, our tour guide & driver will be waiting for you at the lobby of your hotel in Saigon for a drive of around 2 hours to Ben Tre. Arrive at Phong Nam Pier, then you will get on the private boat along the An Hoa River. Stop to visit various local workplaces, including the charcoal workshop where locals make products from coconut shell and active charcoal & material for batteries. There is a coconut processing workshop nearby. A handy brick kiln to see how to make bricks in handy traditional style by printing and baking and rice paper cake workshop.
Continue by boat along An Hoa and Ben Tre river then turn to natural water palm scissors canals where they look smaller and smaller in the countryside. Visit a candy workshop to learn how this kind of sweets are made and taste the nice sweets & a local mat-weaving house to see the technique of locals in making the sleeping mat. Afterwards, you choose either being on a cart powered by a motorbike (namely Xe Loi) or biking and traveling through some quiet villages. You will enjoy your delicious lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, take a sampan boat rowed by a local along water palm creek and the motorboat back to Hung Vuong Pier.
After that, you will follow the car to Can Tho City and check in to your hotel to stay overnight in Can Tho.
