The Hue – DMZ Full Day Tour takes you from the ancient court of Hue to its more modern surrounds around the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). This was an area thick with the jungle that was the site of much conflict between the two divided powers and their allies during the American War, providing several sites of fascinating modern history. Our highly experienced guide will take you through many of the key sites used on both sides of the DMZ, including the Rockpile, Dakrong Bridge, Khe Sanh Combat Base, Ta Con Airfield, Hien Luong Bridge and the Vinh Moc Tunnels.
The route is paved with thick jungle and mountains that reach high into the sky around the former battlefields, providing a beautiful prelude to some intensely fought skirmishes. The Hue – DMZ Full Day Tour, operated by Incredible Asia Journeys, shows you the beautiful and the ugly of Vietnam’s fascinating central region.

Activities: Discovering the key sites of battles between the U.S and the North Vietnamese Army around the large Demilitarized Zone across the 17th Parallel of the country, followed by lunch and a return to Hue.
We start at 07.00 am from your hotel in Hue, when we will pick you up and take you north to the town of Dong Ha.
We will see the militarily strategic ‘Rockpile', where the Americans conducted their observations, as well as the site of the Dakrong Bridge, a vital part of the Ho Chi Minh Highway and, subsequently, the site of the intense bombing by American forces throughout the war.
We visit another vital site, the Khe Sanh Combat Base, where U.S forces dug in against waves of Vietnamese attacks, eventually relenting after 77 days of what was one of the most drawn-out and bloody battles of the war. The small airfield of Ta Con now houses a museum where we will discover the brutal events that happened here in recent history.
Lunch will be served at a restaurant in Dong Ha town before we continue up Highway 1.
We will hear of the history of Quang Tri Citadel and La Vang Church on the way to the Ben Hai River, where the Hien Luong Bridge crosses the official dividing line on the DMZ. Our final stop will be the Vinh Moc Tunnels, an incredible series of underground networks dug by farmers during the night as they tended to their crops in the day. These tunnels housed a whole village of people who were protected from bombing in one of the most heavily contested areas in the country.
After this, we head back south to Hue, arriving at your hotel at around 18.30 pm. We thank you sincerely for joining the Day Trip from Hue and we hope to have the privilege of serving you at a future date.
