After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up for the drive to Cai Be. Board your boat to begin the tour of colorful Cai Be floating market where you will see the unique marketing method whereby wholesalers hang samples of their goods from tall wooden poles so they do not have to cry out what they are selling over the vastness of the river & the noise of boat engines. Follow with a visit to some local workshops that produce rice paste, coconut candy, popped rice & popcorn (optional).
On top of that, visit the very interesting local handicraft village where you will have the opportunity to see how some special products such as rice-net for spring-rolls, fish sauce & soya sauce is made.
Continue by row boat along the river and then turn onto a natural water-palm scissors canal which becomes smaller and smaller as you go further into the countryside to enjoy the peace. While there, you will see traditional houses made of wood and palm tree leaves, and have a chance to meet local farmers and observe the traditional, Mekong Delta work techniques including catching fish or picking fruits in the old, ancestral ways.
Have lunch at a home in Ut Trinh and in the afternoon, stroll around the quiet village. Then stop for a taste of fresh fruits while listening to “Southern Vietnamese folk music” (Don Ca Tai Tu) performed by locals.
One more interesting thing to do on this trip is cycling on the shady paths to other small villages to see the local farms, houses, orchards and fruit plantations & to immerse yourself in nature.
