Foody Tour in Ho Chi Minh and Mekong Delta

Your Vietnam Tour 5 Days starts in Ho Chi Minh Airport.

Upon your arrival at Ho Chi Minh International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your tour guide and driver & be transferred to the city center for hotel check-in. Free time on your own to explore Saigon before joining in your 5 day Vietnam Tour.

At around 19.00, your tour guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel to transfer you to Bach Dang ferry for the cruise. Enjoy a romantic night with delicious dinner while seeing lots of traditional music and interesting performances. Cruise along the riverbank to explore the beauty of Saigon at night on the peaceful and tranquil river. Disembark the cruise at around 21.30. Transfer back to your hotel to stay overnight in Ho Chi Minh City. 

Day 2 of your 5 day itinerary in South Vietnam will be highlight of your trip.

Start at your hotel at around 7.30am. You will travel for more than 1 hour to the Farm Villages. Visit different areas of cows, buffalo, rice fields, big herbs, spices, vegetables, and mushrooms. It is a great opportunity for you not only to learn how to use herbs as medicine and discover Vietnamese food culture but also to escape from the bustle of Saigon where you will replace the sound of bikes and cars horns with the peaceful sounds of cows, birds, ducks, frogs and other inhabitants of the organic farmland. Challenge to become real Vietnamese farmer wearing the traditional hat. 

10.00am – 1.30pm: You will join in the hands-on cooking class and enjoy what you have made. In addition to that, you will receive great cooking tips & healthy recipes.

In the afternoon, explore the rubber tree forest and understand how local people collect the rubber latex. Then, you will continue to visit Cu Chi Tunnels. Before entering, you will watch a short presentation video showing how Cu Chi Tunnels were constructed. Stretching for over 155 miles (250 km) from the South Vietnamese capital to the Cambodian border, the Cu Chi Tunnels were constructed in the late 1940s during the Vietnam war. Spend the next hour exploring the underground tunnel. For those who are interested, you can try to fire an AK-47 or an MK16 rifle on a firing range (Fee is excluded). 

The Cu Chi Tunnels were constructed by the Viet Cong in the late 1940s during their war of independence from French colonial authority. Including storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, constructed living areas, command centers and innumerable of nightmare trap doors, the network was like a secret city to support Viet Cong during the war. A visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels brings you a poignant feeling when you witness a part of the underground life of Viet Cong & the hardships of war. For those who are keen on you can try to fire an AK-47 or an MK16 rifle on a firing range.

You will then go back to Ho Chi Minh City about 05.30. Stay overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.

After breakfast, your tour guide & driver will be waiting for you at the lobby of your hotel in Saigon for a drive of around 2 hours to My Tho. On arrival at My Tho, take a motorboat to visit the four beautiful islets known as Dragon, Unicorn, Phoenix, and Tortoise. Stop to explore Phoenix Islet of Ben Tre where “Coconut Religion” was founded. Continue to come to Turtle Islet to visit a coconut candy workshop to learn about the coconut candy making process & taste the nice sweets. Then take a horse cart on the village path to discover beautiful landscapes and observe the typical Mekong delta rural life & stop at a local family to savor fresh fruits and sip honey tea while enjoying “Southern Vietnamese folk music” (Don ca Tai Tu) performed by locals.

Have lunch and head to Vinh Long where you will check in Ut Trinh homestay (or another homestay on An Binh Island).  

You may join to cook some dishes with the owners, then enjoy dinner & overnight in a private room of the local house in Vinh Long.   

After breakfast, board the boat and start the tour to visit the colorful Cai Be floating market. You have the chance to learn about the unique marketing method where wholesalers hang samples of their goods from tall wooden poles so they do not have to shout out what they are selling in the vastness of the river & the noise of boat engines. Follow this with a visit to some local workshops that produce rice paste, pop- rice & pop-corn (optional).  

One more interesting thing to do on this trip is cycling. You can bike on the shady paths to the small village to see the local farms, houses, orchard and fruit plantation & to immerse yourself in nature.  

Continue by boat along the river bank then turn on natural water palm scissors canals where they look smaller and smaller to the countryside to enjoy the peaceful time. While there, you will see traditional houses made of wood and palm tree leaves. You will have a chance to make contact with local farmers and observe their working activities and learn the traditional working technique which locals use catch to fish or pick up fruits by ancestral ways in the Mekong Delta. 

As well as that, a visit to the brick kilns where you see how locals make bricks in handy traditional style by printing and baking & create stunning traditional potteries from clay should be mentioned. 

The last stop of the boat trip is Vinh Long market in the town. It gives you a lot of opportunities to take photos of fish, shrimps, prawns, crabs, snakes, rice-field rats, tropical fruits, vegetables, etc. You finish your 5 day Vietnam Tour in the South.

We will transfer back to Saigon, have lunch on the way & check in the hotel at around 3.30pm. Stay overnight in HCM.   

The 5 days in Vietnam will end today with the transfer to the airport.
