Bai Tu Long Bay Overview

1. The Legend of Bai Tu Long Bay

According to legend, to protect ancient Vietnam’s border from invaders, Mother Dragon and Child Dragon were sent to help the Vietnamese people against the enemy. These dragons sprayed a large number of pearls turning into thousands of limestone. It became a solid wall that the invaders could not overcome.

Because the Mother Dragon and Child Dragon loved spectacular landscapes and appreciated the hospitality of Vietnamese people, they decided to stay there instead of coming back to heaven. Since then, the position that Mother Dragon landed is called Halong Bay, and where Child Dragon stayed is known as Bai Tu Long Bay.
