What a great cruise we’ve just come back from!We knew we were in good hands when we met the smiling crew, but especially Zo, who was super nice to us the whole time. The first cave was a bit of a disappointment so we almost skipped the second one, but this one was completely different as you sail through the water on a boat and come out on the other side on an enclosed lake. So magical! We took full advantage of the kayaks and went exploring around for a bit before heading back to the boat. It was very nice to be out on our own in Halong Bay.Food was excellent and the cabins were cute and comfy. Wonderful cruise!
We got a beautiful Deluxe cabin suite with the Syrena cruise. But it started well even before this with the pick up, which was perfectly on time. There’s a little bit of wear and tear on the boat but this shouldn’t detract too much from its overall beauty or the beauty of the bay outside. Good sized rooms and large ensuite, with a balcony that gave us great views.Good stop at the Amazing Cave with all of its crazy lights. We then went back to the boat and headed to Titop Island, where we hiked to the top of the island and took pictures of the whole of the bay below us. We went back to the boat after this but I felt like we could have maybe engaged in more of the activities.Good food but it didn’t blow our minds. Maybe because we took the alternative dishes because we don’t eat beef or pork. We did appreciate the effort by the staff to produce a completely different meal just for us though.A pleasant cruise in the end and one that I’m very glad I did. It was an easy booking and we were looked after well the whole time we were there.
We did the full 3 dayer around Halong Bay with Syrena and had a very nice visit overall, Bus driver was a bit of a maniac on the way there but I’m not sure how much of this is him and how much of it is usual Vietnamese road behaviour. We had a nice buffet once we boarded and we set off into the bay. We found Titop Island to be too touristy and not the relaxing time it was made out to be. Luckily we got back for happy hour and a fantastic sunset, which already made coming to Halong Bay worthwhile. The dinner and evening entertainment confirmed this.I rose early on the second day an enjoyed the sunrise all to myself. We had breakfast and headed out on the day boat, which left the main attractions to discover the quieter parts of the bay. In a way, I’m glad for the lack of waterproof bags, as it meant I left all my electronics on the day boat when we went out kayaking and fully enjoyed the moment instead of posing 100 times for the ultimate selfie. Great and very relaxed day overall.Just about time on the third day for a ride through the cave, but it was amazing. We came out on the other side to some emerald waters and cliffs, with monkeys swinging around the treetops. Beautiful.I was very impressed with the Syrena overall but I do wish that more could be done to quell the flow of plastic in the bay, which is not only ruining the appealing sight of the bay, but also destroying ecosystems and the lives of people and animals who depend on them.
Such a good cruise, but I’d say it is a must to do the three day itinerary. We spent the entire 2nd day on the day boat, which was really wonderful. We had a lot of fun cruising, fishing, visiting caves and swimming in the bay and just sitting on the sundeck to take it all in. Can’t fault much to be honest. The service was great, the meals were very and the cooking class was very entertaining with lots of people involved. There was a good ambience after dinner when lots of people met other people and we sort of melded into one big group. Absolutely zero noise when sleeping and no swaying with the water whatsoever. It was very impressive and experience I’d be happy to try again!
A big fan of this cruise I went on with Syrena. I thought it was exceptionally well run and well carried out by Thuy, our lovely tour guide who took us to caves and the beach. She was super friendly and always there to help.I had some reservations about going initially because I thought I might get sea sick on the cruise. No such dice though – the boat was essentially rock solid while we were cruising or moored in the water. We had a very special view available from the cabins and other places around the ship. Certainly can’t complain about the amount of food eiher, which was great. We had a few buffet meals and a set-menu one. I’ll be coming back to this cruise in the future and I highly recommend you do too. Mint as!
Can’t fault a thing between pick up and drop off with the Syrena Cruise. We had a stunning time!We went for the 3 day option and had a luxury tour bus to take us there. We were introduced to a spotless and spacious room and then met some of the wonderful staff, who took care of us so well over the course of the three days.We were not bored at any point during the cruise – it seems like there is aways something to be getting on with both on and off the boat. We had swimming, kayaking, relaxing, cooking, tai chi-ing and a film night to stay attentive, along with all the food in the dining room and some restful hours in our cabin.Very fresh and tasty selection of food. I thought the chef did an amazing job. We had buffets for every meal and so I was suitably stuffed by the end of the cruise. Probably gained about 4 pounds but worth it! There were a couple of happy hours during the cooking classes, so we all got a little merry while we learned how to cook Vietnamese food.A professional and well organised trip all round. Well done Syrena.
Had a wonderful tour in the Syrena 3. It rained quite a bit but that didn’t dampen any spirits, even though we couldn’t go to the island because of it. There was a cooking class, good drinks, excellent cabins, tai chi class (cut short because of the rain) and a fantastic crew on board the Syrena. The rain didn’t do much at all to ruin the beauty of the bay. We still went out to Luon Cave on a bamboo boat and were amazed by the limestone towers around us, which looked maybe even more fantastic in the light mist. I’d definitely suggest cruising with Syrena if you are coming to Halong Bay, they make everything so much easier.
Everything good about this cruise (apart from the jaw-dropping scenery) is brought about by the crew. They are an incredibly nice bunch of youngsters, who are very caring of their customers. They even brought many cups of ginger tea for my daughter when she got sick on board.I’ve certainly had better kayaking expeditions but for people from countries where kayaking isn’t really a thing, I can see why they’d like it – and some of them quite clearly did. Spectacular scenery, beautiful cabins, all meals included and some reasonably priced drinks to boot. They also have the option of some massages, though we didn’t indulge. Great cruise though, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I would recommend Syrena to everyone.
I’d read quite a few not so positive reviews about Halong Bay as a destination, but I needn’t have been worried. The trip was fantastic. As long as you don’t mind the 4 hour drive then you won’t have a problem with Syrena. I slept most the way there and back so it’s not a problem for people like me. We had an amazing bed and shower, with a great balcony outside for staring across the sea. We were served excellent food the whole time. For anyone worried about the amounts of tourists in the area – don’t be. Halong Bay is huge and there is still a lot of space to be found here. The presence of other boats doesn’t take much away from the scenery anyway. It’s an amazing place to visit and I’m so glad that I went with Syrena.
Hands down the highlight of our trip to Vietnam – 2 days on the Syrena Cruise. It was a fun-packed time on the boat with all of the activities. We started with the cave visit and then went kayaking before returning to the boat for a sunset party. The next day there was tai chi, an easy hike to a peak and swimming on the each. Very conclusive! The staff were so friendly and accommodating in every conceivable way, and they delivered us food of the highest quality.Very well equipped bedroom with facilities of the highest order. We had gone for my 60th birthday. The crew knew this already and brought me out a cake and sang the usual verses! Really made my day, thanks everyone!

We had come from Hanoi to Halong Bay already when we were told that the Syrena Cruise couldn’t sail because of an incoming typhoon. We were devastated, along with the rest of the customers, many of who had come from all over the world for this cruise. After a bit of confusion about what to do, some of the crew mentioned that we could get a full refund or take the Syrena out for a day trip and stay overnight in a hotel. We decided on the second option and ended up having a really nice time. The boat was fantastic and we were allowed to use the cabins, so we spent as much time as possible on the balcony and the LARGE bathtubs in the en suite bathrooms. We only had the one lunch instead of the dinner and breakfast, but it was fantastic food. We managed to get out and do the kayaking, which was fun but a little rushed because of all the previous exertions in figuring out what to do.No matter. It was disappointing not to get the day that we paid for, but credit to Syrena for coming up with a viable alternative and letting us see Halong Bay. Great cruise, great staff!
Had a fantastic cruise around Halong Bay with my friends and the crew of the Syrena. We also met a lot of other travellers on the ship and there was a very communal atmosphere when we were there. The activities like kayaking and caving were fantastic and the cabins were very nice to be in. We also loved the food and were amazed at the presentation on a moving ship. Would loved to have booked on for another night and I can’t deny I was feeling a pang of jealousy when waving goodbye to the people who were staying for 3 nights instead. Oh well – good excuse to come back next time! And when I do, I’ll definitely come back with Syrena!

Great cruise that really exceeded our expectations. Everything from the quality of the room to the beauty of the dining room was perfect and felt light a real luxury kind of experience. I would really have loved to visit Halong Bay about 20 years ago, when tourism was just starting out, but I guess that goes for everyone. It’s not that it’s too busy now, but I feel like the beauty would be magnified quite significantly if there were fewer boats in the area. Nevertheless, we were still awestruck by the mountains, the caves, the beaches etc. It was a great experience and one that I will remember thanks to the awesome crew, who I chatted to a lot.
Definitely recommend going to Halong Bay on the Syrena. We went for 2 days and one night and felt like we easily could have done with another day there. They have some really fun activities that get you super close to the islands and onto the water. I talked to the crew in both English and Chinese and was amazed by their language skills. All of the crew were exceptionally welcoming and we felt very much like part of a family and not cogs in a business while we were there. They were also very professional and eager to help out at any opportunity and they made our time in Halong Bay something to remember!
