We received an upgrade from the Aphrodite Cruise, which seemed to be in service, to the Hera Cruise. And wow, what a stroke of luck. All of the meals were incredible. The staff were extremely professional in checking for dietary requirements and making adjustments accordingly. Our children complained that the eating took too long over the 5 courses, but they ate everything so I put it down to kids just liking to complain. We had water in the cabin, at breakfast time and on cruises, otherwise you have to buy it. We had full itineraries on the second and third days, but spent much of the third day relaxing on the boat, which is something we wanted to do a lot. The staff were so lovely, always willing to talk to us and our family, they helped us with anything we needed and simply chatted to us during our time, which was nice as we got to learn about them as they did about us.We couldn’t swim, even at Titop beach because of the levels of jellyfish in the water, which was a bit disappointing, but obviously not the fault of the crew. Kayaking on the second day was beautiful. We went around a fishing village and saw locals at work. The cabins were incredible. We couldn’t get a family connecting room so we just had two separate cabins. The balcony of each cabin was phenomenal and we enjoyed it as much as we could.
Anyone looking for a once in a lifetime experienced filled to its full potential should look at the Hera Cruise. It was a seamless process from booking with Jean from reservations, who told me that the Aphrodite Cruise we had booked was being serviced, so we were to receive a free upgrade to the Hera Cruise, which belongs to the same company. We were picked up in a private car and taken to Halong Bay.The boat was outstanding in the way it looked, it felt like true luxury! We had a beautiful dark timber interior as well as the opulent touches like the chandelier and the grand piano in the corner! The dining and lounge areas are very large and impressively-stocked with drinks and food. The sundeck was massive and could accommodate for many more guests than we had on board. There are 12 cabins on board and we were in the Sun Room, with 55m2 of space, which was huge. We loved the king sized bed and the private balcony, but the crown of the room was the free standing bathtub in the en suite, truly luxurious! The meals of authentic Vietnamese food were consistently outstanding. I wasn’t expecting much from food presented on a boat, but the taste and artful decoration of each course is worthy of the majority of restaurants I’ve been to on land. The chef, Thomas, was incredible and deserves all the praise he gets! He lead cooking classes later on in the evening. Our staff was very attentive, due to the fact that there was a ratio of about 1:1 with the guests. We were impressed by the knowledge of each course that was presented to us over dinner and all of the waiters (especially Mark, who served our final night as a private dinner in our suite) were fantastic. I have to give a special mention to Anna, the wonderful head of crew, who made sure that every need we had was dealt with by the diligent crew throughout the entire trip. Also to tour guide Zoey, who showed us the beauty of Halong Bay up close through kayaking and a trip to the Sung Sot Cave, about which she was very knowledgeable. Every member of the beautiful staff was very, very kind and the trip wouldn’t have been half as entertaining without them! What a fantastic trip overall. I have no better words for Hera Cruise. Thank you so much!

Having booked with Aphrodite, we were thrilled to be upgraded to Hera and the private bathtub that we had in our Ocean Suite. Our cruise was amazing and I need to compliment Anna, Zoey and Henry personally for being so caring, lovely and understanding throughout the whole trip, their service was phenomenal. Our chef Gavin was also outstanding in his job. He made the most amazing tenderloin steak with grape sauce that I can still taste today.Out of all of the activities, I liked the kayaking the best as I could take my camera and get super close pictures of the rocks The whole crew were great and I want to thank everyone who took care of us so well over the 2 days. For anyone looking for the best cruise in Halong Bay, check out Hera for the smaller number of passengers, which makes for exceptional service.P/s: Don’t make the mistake that I did in booking the 2 day, 1 night! Go for the 3 day, 2 night, which the crew told us gives you time in some fishing villages and a lot more time around the bay to relax.
Me and my girlfriend were lucky to receive and upgrade from the Aphrodite to the Hera Cruise, so we didn’t know much about the ship before we got on, but we were blown away. Not only was the room fantastic, with a glorious bed, en-suite bathroom, and large balcony with jaw-dropping views, but the staff were on another level. We have to mention Anna, Zoey, Mark and Henry, who were fantastic in their arrangement and organisation, as well as their huge smiles and deep appreciation for the guests. Because the boat is so small, the staff usually got quite close with the guests, which was great as they knew our names after the first 5 minutes! Exquisite food served throughout, with 5 whole courses for added luxury! The kayaking was our favourite but we also enjoyed the beach and the cave. We went fishing for shrimp before bed and had a cooking class before dinner so that we could learn how to make spring rolls. My only two suggestions to people looking at cruises would be to book this one, and book the 3 day, 2 night itinerary. The one we did was packed full of activities but I wish we had more time to relax on the boat and take in the bay. Some more Vietnamese food during breakfast and lunch would have been nicer, but we cannot fault the selection they put in front of us. We were subject to some classic Vietnamese overtaking skills on the way back to Hanoi, maybe the driver was on a tight schedule, but it was a little unnerving! Overall though, an unbelievable experience thanks to Hera and its wonderful staff!
We managed to book this cruise as a surprise for our daughter’s birthday. We felt so at home as soon as we boarded the cruise. The staff were phenomenal, so warm and friendly and willing to talk whenever you wanted. Our kids were the only ones on board and the staff were amazing with them. They must have done something right because the kids are still talking about them now!We were served unbelievable food the whole time. I have a few dietary requirements that sometimes cause a few problems, but it was nothing for the chef here, who dutifully made me something completely different, which was incredibly tasty. We took two connecting rooms for us and the kids, and they were amazing. Super soft beds, incredible bathrooms and great décor around the interior made the cabins as luxury as the rest of the ship.We took the kayaks around the water and loved every minute of it. We woke up for Tai chi and did the cooking class and nighttime squid fishing, all of which were fun and informative. Do as much as you can, it’s a once in a lifetime kind of trip! The kindness of the staff was on display when we came back from dinner to find our daughter’s room decorated with balloons, with a big cake in the middle and some sliced watermelon. They sang her happy birthday; it was very thoughtful of them.We have special commemorations for Mark, Ly and Henry, but we were amazed by the hard work and smiles of all of the staff. You guys were outstanding and you made my daughter’s birthday so special. Thank you!
We booked in January onto the Aphrodite Cruise, but got a free upgrade to the Hera Cruise, with all its added luxury. Me and my wife received a private limousine to pick us up, which we certainly didn’t expect, but it came as a very nice surprise. We drove for about 4 hours but slept a lot of the way.Upon boarding, we had been assigned the Wind cabin, with a queen-sized bed, deck complete with private sun loungers and a sleek en suite bathroom. It was a great experience to feel something like that.Expect very close personal care aboard the Hera Cruise. The intimacy of the boat meant that the service was excellent as workers weren’t dealing with scores of passengers at a time. The meals were all exquisite and really well presented. We were amazed the talents of the young chef who created everything for us so well. It is very tempting to stay on the boat during activities, but don’t miss out, they’re very fun and informative.Ha Long Bay is incredible and we couldn’t have gone with a more courteous company. It was one of my favourite ever trips and it will live long in my memory. We would just like to mention the following by name: Sam, Henry, Alex, Zoey, Chef, Anna (Cruise Manager) and the boat captain, for their incredible service and ability to make passengers smile.
All of our booking and admin was deal with by Nghia Le Tuan, who organised everything for us in one easy to understand package. We were welcomed to the waiting room by Zoey with tea before boarding the cruise. Everything was exceptional from this point in, starting with our family cabin, which was one room for the parents and one for the kids, connected within. The views from upstairs were out of this world, we spent a lot of time with the kids of up there. We had a great crew to look after us (including but not limited to Anna, Zoey, Henry and Sam) who accompanied us on excursions and made sure everything was catered for on the boat. We had a cooking class and learnt about the traditional Vietnamese flute, not to mention the gorgeous food that we were served throughout the trip. Our whole family recommends Hera Cruise to witness the majesty of Halong Bay.

What a fantastic time we had on the Hera Cruise. Me and my wife had a luxury cabin, while our two adult sons had the same deal nearby. The rooms were unbelievable, each one was so well decorated and equipped. The beautiful dining room had some chairs around the outside where you could watching the passing bay.Unbelievable food from the very first meal. 5 courses of a starter, salad, soup, main course, and dessert really set the luxurious tone that Hera operates under. We too advantage of the happy hour to get 2 for 1 drinks.I don’t have any words for the crew, they were simply outstanding. The cruise director Anna was very likeable, she had a great energy that was definitely infectious. We went to caves, a floating village, and went kayaking around the mountain. Zoe, Sophie and Mark were also phenomenal crew members, very fun to talk to.Although this is one of the more expensive options in Halong Bay, you get every cent of your money’s worth here. We have absolutely zero regrets and would go back to Hera in a heartbeat.
This is the first time I had gone on an unplanned trip when I went to Vietnam. We were a little skeptical about Halong Bay after what we’d heard about pollution and tourism, but opted for Hera Cruise when glancing at the hotel. It was a long drive in the morning but the car was so comfortable that I think most people slept through it. We stayed in the Sun Room, which was too good to be true. I thought it looked even better than a 5 star hotel on land. All of the staff were very warm to us, especially Mark and the cruise manager, Anna. The food was incredible, and served in 7 courses, which were all delicious. Our full day consisted of chilling on an island and kayaking. The night time cooking class showed us how to make Vietnamese spring rolls. The whole trip was so well-planned for Hera, without a single hitch then entire way. Thank you, Hera.

Worth every penny, this cruise. I really liked the fact that it was smaller and more intimate than the other boats; I think you could probably fit about 20 maximum on this one. Most people did the 1 night option, but a few people stayed for an extra day, which we really wanted to do but couldn’t justify for time reasons. All the information is our on their website, but I’m a little doubtful of companies that write great things about themselves on their website, so I’ll do it for them. We were in the ‘Wind’ cabin on the second floor. We had a private balcony, a huge double bed and an en suite bathroom with gorgeous free standing bath. We loved the décor of the room, as well as the air-con, which was very efficient and quiet.I absolutely loved the staff on board. Our host, Anna, was magnificent throughout and it seemed like she was born to do what she does! Her friendly team were always looking out for us; you could sense that they had a genuine desire to make us happy and ensure that everything was perfect for us, which was great to see. I have a few food allergies but the chefs dealt with them without concern. Zoey and Nash knew about everything, so we peppered them with questions about history and culture, to which they answered in essentially perfect English. It was phenomenal from start to finish and I can’t fault anything on the Hera Cruise. Thanks for the unbelievable welcoming to Vietnam!
Had an outstanding time in Halong Bay with Hera, just first class all the way! We opted for the 2 day 1 night stay, getting the return van service between Hanoi and Halong. The van was crazy modern, we felt more like we were in some kind of luxurious spaceship. We had a very quick and pain-free check in, after which we relaxed until the other passengers arrived so that we could board the boat. The inside of the boat was so clean and modern and the staff were phenomenal, always smiling and always willing to help if you need anything. We had a wonderful cabin that somehow managed to smell amazing the entire time. The staff gave us a free bottle of champagne as well to welcome us, which was great! It’s such a beautiful spot to wake up in and look at Halong Bay outside the big windows. The tour guides gave us a great amount of information for each activity that we did, and made sure we were all happy and having fun throughout the cruise. Top marks go to the chef for the most delicious array of food we’ve had in a very long time! Supreme stuff and seemingly enjoyed by all. We had such a great time and didn’t feel like leaving in the end. We will be back and we will book the 3 day, 2 night tour for sure!
If you’re looking for a beautiful boat with amazing staff and great views of the bay, then you can’t go wrong with Hera! We chose the best in the business as we know Halong Bay is a once in a lifetime destination for us.It started with Ms. Jean Quynh Nguyen, who gave me a thorough briefing through email. They picked us up later in very plush transportation and took us to the harbour, where we waited in the lounge until we boarded. INTERIOR: Exceeded my expectations, especially in the cabin and the wonderful decoration around it. There was beautiful wood throughout the floor and ceiling and the very comfortable bed was a great size. We loved the luxurious bathroom and the large window through which you can see everything going on outside. EXTERIOR: There are many decks and balconies where you can watch the sunset. We opted for our private balcony but the sundeck was also beautiful.DINING: Amazingly skilled chefs! They made us such great meals consistently. I was so full by the end of every meal but I made sure that my plate was empty, I didn’t want to waste a single tasty bite! The cooking class really got me hungry, so it was good that we ate right afterward!GUESTS: The boat seems to be set up to meet other guests, which is exactly what we did. We even ended up pushing the tables together so that everyone could eat at the same table!SERVICE: Unbelievable service from a very kind and hospitable group of people. They are very professional but know exactly when to cut loose and have fun. There was an impromptu dance party after dinner with the staff and the guests, which was a great time!As well as all of that, there was the activities, which were fun and interesting, and everything added together overall to make it one of my favourite travel experiences to date. The ship was beautiful, the bay was beautiful, but what made it for me is the people, the crew and guests who we met.SPECIAL THANK YOU'S!: Special mention to Kenny, Jolie, Tuan, Jack, Captain Ba, Chef Hoi, Yen and everyone else who made this trip amazing! I will be back soon to cruise and dance with all of you!Could not have any higher recommendations than the Hera Cruise.
Had a completely perfect time with Hera Cruise just now in Halong Bay! The room was just stunning, and the bathroom window overlooked the bay beautifully, I’ve definitely never stayed in a room this nice before. We had extremely comfy beds and the private terrace was perfect for us to unwind after spending time in the bay. The room had huge windows so we were always looking out into Halong Bay,We had a great team of staff that looked after us, includin kenny g and jolie, who had excellent English and were really friendly throughout. We tried so much new food because of the fact that the dinner comes over 6 courses, giving us a chance to try a lot, all of which was delicious. The full buffets were so good for breakfast and lunch! We did some really cool tours to cave and the top of a mountain. Hera Cruise give you a lot to fit in, but we were grateful of the option. It will be an experience that lives on long in the memory, it was simply perfect. Thanks to all the staff of the Hera Cruise!
Me and my family went for the overnight option on the Hera Cruise. We had sporadic rain but we found that the clouds still added to the atmosphere in the bay.Very good cabins in the ship, very clean and comfortable. It was a good job that the ship was so beautiful as we were stuck inside quite a bit from the rain! The cruise holds no more than 30 people, which is the ideal size for me – not too crowded and not too quiet. Amazing food presented in an artistic way. We were worried that the ‘fine dining’ aspect meant that there wouldn’t be a lot to eat, but we were stuffed!Really can’t speak more highly of the crew. Every one of them was very friendly, had great English and ensured that we were happy at all times. Kenny and Tom Cruise were especially fantastic.Would very much recommend this ship to anyone reading; I will certainly be returning with them if I come back to Vietnam.
We went through Booking.com to book the Ultralux Hera Cruise and received room upgrade before we even boarded. We took the Limousine Car and it was a comfortable ride for the 3 hours travelling. The cruise was perfect for relaxing. All of the activities such as cave visits, kayaking, squid fishing, sunrise Tai Chi, cooking class were included in the package deal. The beds and cabins were very comfortable, and the staff were very nice to provide us with champagne and a birthday cake for my wife. Kenny and Lisa were fantastic, making sure we were happy the whole time and entertaining us as well. Definitely the best time we had in Vietnam.
