"The Best Time on the Starlight Cruise!"

Starlight Cruise

Our group of 6 took to the seas on the Starlight Cruise and had an utterly fantastic time. We booked onto the Oriental Sails but received a free upgrade to the Starlight Cruise. Obviously we had seen no pictures beforehand, so we were fully blown away by the beauty of the boat. We met a group of 10 fellow Aussies and ended up merging the groups somewhat to have a really communal and fun atmosphere! The comfy bed was very well received, and the mini fridge, chairs and table added a touch of class. This was compiled in the bathroom, where we found an excellent jacuzzi. Very very delicious food served over several courses. The cave was wonderful and offered us a break from the outrageously powerful sun. We did a bit of karaoke in the evening, which was great, after a failed attempt at squid fishing. It was awesome to see the fishing village and see how people live their lives in the bay. The staff were amazing and were always smiling, even when they had been on their feet for a long time.Big recommendations for the Starlight Cruise! Thank you for making our trip.

"An Excellent Overnight Cruise with the Starlight Cruise"

Starlight Cruise

Having read the other reviews, I realise that the free upgrade we got is not really a rarity. We had a group of 10 and were all upgraded to the Starlight Cruise to join a group of 6 already on board. Mine and my wife’s cabin was just gorgeous and the décor in the modern and wood paneled amenities really added a touch of class.6 courses for each meal and all of fantastic quality. We didn’t ever go hungry.During our time cruising, we went to an island and hiked up the viewpoint trek here (400 steps), went kayaking, visited a beach, enjoyed some pre-breakfast tai chi, did a cooking lesson, played mini golf and did a cheeky bit of squid jiggling.Drinks were a little pricey for Vietnamese standards but we had saved so much money with the free upgrade that we decided to splash out a little bit.Safety was of number 1 concern for the crew and they were very thorough in applying the rules.Excellent cruise – so happy with how things turned out!

"Our Saviours – the Starlight Cruise!"

Starlight Cruise

We booked last minute with the Starlight Cruise after the cruise that we originally booked had abandoned us at the harbour, claiming they were already full after transferring us from Hanoi. The first office we saw at the harbour was that of the Starlight Cruise, so we walked in and handed our money over. There were only 15 passengers out of a capacity of 64 on this cruise, so we enjoyed some very attentive service the whole way through. We had an amazing room with double bed and some small furnishings to make life more comfortable and luxurious – particularly the air con! Having seen no pictures beforehand, we were pleasantly wowed by everything, nothing more so than the jacuzzi bathtub in the bathroom! It’s a bit of a shame that we had to choose between kayaking and swimming. I was looking forward to going swimming as it was so hot, but my husband was adamant that we should go kayaking. We did in the end and I have to admit that it was really magical. We were very lucky to see some monkeys on some treetops, and even more lucky to see some baby monkeys with them! That was a really great experience.Excellent presentation and taste to the food. The set menu opened our eyes to much food that we would never have tried otherwise and were delighted with the tasty results! The staff were very friendly and professional. Our tour guide Kent put in a real shift to learn everyone’s name during the cruise and was excellent at making conversation with everyone. He was also very knowledgeable about the bay and happy to share it all with us.We are so lucky to have been able to join this cruise as it was absolutely amazing. It could have ended in disaster but the Starlight Cruise were very welcoming and ended up saving the day!

"Couldn’t Have Chosen Better than the Starlight Cruise"

Starlight Cruise

This was a 3 day trip at the very start of our Vietnam holiday.Transfers There’s no avoiding the long transfer and Starlight Cruise make it clear that you will be travelling for about 4 hours. Luckily the private transport we booked with the company was very comfortable.RoomWe spent a little extra for the balcony suit and it did not disappoint! Great room, very spacious with a lovely balcony and jacuzzi within. We entered the room to the sight of a bottle of wine and two glasses awaiting us!FoodVery nice food and we absolutely never went hungry! My two pieces of advice would be to bring extra money for drinks (they aren’t included in the price) and take the option for a private dinner on the top deck. The crew started setting up the table for us before they realised that there was a noisy party boat behind us and that we would have a more pleasant evening at the front of the ship, so they dismantled the table and moved it to the front of the ship without a fuss.Activities There’s no chance of missing out on activities as they are announced over the speaker system. We spent the entire of the second day on a different boat with only 3 other people. There was lots of spots for kayaking and swimming and we visited a pearl farm and fishing village as well. It was easily our favourite day and we’re so glad that we chose the 3 day itinerary, otherwise we wouldn’t have had that great experience. We headed to an island on the third day and hiked to the top of it. The hike was sweaty work but the view was so worth it! The beach below was a bit overcrowded. There were some great evening entertainment activities for everyone after dinner, and some sunrise tai chi. I really did try to get up for the tai chi on both days but found that leaving the bed wasn’t really an option! All being said, the Starlight Cruise was fantastic and 100% worthy of the money we spent on it. It was such an excellent start to our trip and can’t thank Starlight Cruise enough for that!

"5 Star Starlight Cruise!"

Starlight Cruise

We have absolutely no qualms with the Starlight Cruise! Considering we were on a boat, we thought the cabin was incredibly well constructed, with a big bathroom and 2-person jacuzzi! We took our cocktails into here and had a fantastic time staring out across the bay. Absolutely everyone on board gave us wonderful service and had a very high level of English amongst them, as well as several other languages that we heard them communicating in. We ended up having a lot of cocktails because they were so great and it seemed like the perfect place to do it! Great choice of food and all really delicious as well.Mr. Bean was our absolutely delightful tour guide – he was just perfect in his role and he was clearly born to be a guide! He loved to chat and share about his culture while learning of ours. He was determined for us to enjoy our time and he did everything in his ability to make it happen. He made an already fantastic trip even better!Thank you Mr. Bean and thank you to the Starlight Cruise. This was a truly memorable experience.

"The Ship we Always Wanted! Perfect Starlight Cruise"

Starlight Cruise

Got the upgrade from the Oriental Sails and were very happy with the results! The Starlight Cruise was perfect. So clean, modern and wonderfully decorated. There were some very attentive staff and we were very lucky to have a guide like Mr. Lung – he took care of us at every turn and you could see his passion for everyone to enjoy his beautiful homeland. The wifi was surprisingly efficient and the cabins were very spacious and gave us a great view of the bay – we didn’t want to miss a single minute of those views! The menu for meals was pre-set, but it was an excellent way to try stuff that we otherwise may not have. We found a lot more new dishes that we loved and found that other customers were sort of tailoring their own menus by getting the staff to swap out certain things. The cave was an interesting look but the best thing we did was the kayaking. I wish we had more time to spend doing it as we were only out for about an hour in the end. We were completely enraptured by the scenery, especially when we saw a family of monkeys in the treetops! We spent much of the time on the top deck, watching the view and not moving for hours.I will be booking the 3 day tour next time for sure! This was an incredible experience on the Starlight Cruise!

"Starlight Cruise for 2 days"

Starlight Cruise

We booked with the Oriental Sails but were bumped up to the Starlight Cruise before departing. It was a fantastic cruise and never too rushed. We were glad we got time to spend on the attractive boat, even with all the kayaking, caving, spring roll making class etc. Bed was a little hard but overall the rooms were terrific. The food was good in general but some of the courses we were served were a little strange and catered more to the western palette, even though we were in Vietnam to try the wonderful food. All the staff were very professional but special mentions go to Kent, our tour guide. He was very caring with my elderly parents and especially when he took my mum kayaking – something she had been initially hesitant to do but Kent put her mind at ease and she ended up having a great time – we really appreciate his effort when he could have just left her on the boat. Kent also arranged for our special transport to Cat Ba Island, so we very much appreciated that as well! We’re not sure about the services of other cruises but we were so happy with our time on the Starlight Cruise. I would personally book it again without second thought.

"Mr Bin, the Starlight Cruise and Beautiful Halong Bay – What a combo!"

Starlight Cruise

We went with the one night tour of Halong Bay with the Starlight Cruise and were very pleased with the experience that we had. I don’t think I’ve ever had better seafood in my life! The steamed clams were absolutely fantastic and were worth the entire price of the cruise just in themselves! The ticket we bought with the Starlight Cruise included everything except drinks, so we had nothing to worry about regarding extra charges and stuff. Staff spoke great English and were always there to help. The outstanding member of staff for us was Mr. Bin, our tour guide and all-round awesome dude. He has amazing English and the way that he conveys complex ideas in a simple way, when most native speakers would struggle to do the same, proves his talents. He was also hilarious but made sure that we were always safe on excursions. It was lovely to see him enjoying his own tour and we had him in fits of laughter at one point! Great guy – a real treasure of the Starlight Cruise.Get onboard the Starlight Cruise and get Mr. Bin as your guide. It’s unreal!

"Starlight Cruise in the Beautiful Bay"

Starlight Cruise

Absolutely the most beautiful place in the whole of Vietnam and it is worth going with Starlight Cruise, as they know how to treat their passengers. The guide collected us from our hotel and set a great impression right from the start. We then met the rest of the crew and the captain, all of whom were lovely and so welcoming. It was a pleasure to sail with them.We had a great room with a very nice bathtub and some excellent food, make by a very talented chef. We learnt how to make some spring rolls on the boat, which was fun and educational, but it was the professionals that blew us away with the incredible food they served! So delicious and plentiful. The fishing village and kayaking excursions were excellently planned and executed. We also had a great time on the sundeck, where we played golf and relaxed on the sun loungers. We came up here early in the morning to enjoy the peaceful scenery and do some tai chi.Big thanks to everyone for making this such a memorable trip. It was a beautiful experience.

"Luxury Boat with Excellent Services"

Starlight Cruise

Having decided that this was one of the nicer boats with lots of nice touches in the food, cabin and itinerary, we went to book with the Starlight Cruise. Everything was fantastic, from our honeymoon suite to the amazing balcony, great food and fun activities. We certainly weren’t expecting that level of quality in the food, nor were we expecting it to come as a multi-course option, but we weren’t complaining and had clean plates by the end.Kayaking was chill but it was mainly just us doing our own thing. We were given paddles and told to have fun.We were very impressed with our guide Tony (or Tung). He was so knowledgeable about the bay and managed to answer every question we put to him. He was also very funny and caring of his passengers. This seems to be a good cruise for couples and families. There were other boats around us where we heard faint sounds of a party, but it was a very relaxed evening on the Starlight Cruise. Fully recommended!

"The Perfect Cruise, Starlight Cruise"

Starlight Cruise

Loved our guide Mr. Lang, such a friendly, fun and cheerful man! We had a very luxurious room which came with a jacuzzi. The floating village was great even though the weather wasn’t great. The crew gave us ponchos in case we needed them. Had lots of fun squid fishing even though we caught nothing. We sat down there with beers and just talked with the bay all around us.We were fed very well and enjoyed a couple of multi-course meals along the way. Had great staff who looked after us the whole time.Really nice cruise and one we would be happy to go back on in the blink of an eye!

"Starlight Cruise know how to make it special!"

Starlight Cruise

We knew beforehand that this would be a cruise where we go through the same itineraries of everyone else in the bay, and accepting that earlier just made it easier to enjoy the scenery rather than worry about the tourists. We had a wonderful tour guide in Man, who was great at giving us the information as well as treating us like individuals. All of the staff were brilliant and they helped us to get one of our items returned after we accidentally left it on the boat. Wonderful personable service by all of them.If you’re after great food, a great cabin, lovely balcony, great views and excellent service, then I couldn’t recommend the Starlight Cruise any more.

"Seamless Starlight"

Starlight Cruise

Everything ran so smoothly on the Starlight Cruise tour. We were picked up and dropped off perfectly and had some well-planned activities in between. Our guide was lovely and very approachable. He didn’t tell us what to do as much as he provided information and was there if you had any questions or concerns. We did actually have a lot of questions and we received very satisfactory answers. The bed was very comfortable and the food was fantastic, served in an efficient manner. I have to recommend Starlight Cruise to other people, and I will probably come again as well! The only negative thing to note was the rubbish floating around the bay. I hope this gets sorted out as it is very unattractive and horrible for the environment.

"Outstanding – Thank you Starlight Cruise"

Starlight Cruise

We were informed on the way to the bay that we had gotten a free upgrade from our original 3-star boat to the 5-star Starlight Cruise. Needless to say, we were thrilled by this news, and after a bit of confusion at the harbour where we didn’t know which guide to go with, we joined the Starlight and were on our way. We had a very friendly, informative and helpful tour guide in Tommy, who always made sure to speak to everyone and he somehow managed to become friends with all his passengers. Lovely rooms with a jacuzzi in the bathroom. We did a bit of kayaking and swimming near a beach. Squid fishing wasn’t all that much but we enjoyed the evening entertainment and talking to new friends. We went to a cave the next day after tai chi. The cave was amazing but it was so crowded with other tourists that we didn’t want to spend long there. 7 course meals were out of this world! Amazing food and a really fun cooking class.Big recommendations for the Starlight Cruise – thank you to everyone on board!

"Highly Recommend the Starlight Cruise for 3 Days!"

Starlight Cruise

It’s a very large boat but there’s still lots of spaces to find privacy, so we were happy. We started sailing straight away and had a wonderful lunch to kick us off. All of the activities were very clearly laid out to us and we knew exactly what we were doing at all times.Staff are always there for you when you need them and they always help you with a style. We had a gorgeous balcony and were glad that we spent a little bit extra on it. We also got a nice bottle of wine upon entering the cabin and had a private dinner on the top deck with personal wait staff. You have a bit of time on the 1 night cruise to do the kayaking, caving, fishing village activities etc, but the 2 night cruise puts you on a day boat on day 2 and you have a fantastic and free time just swimming, kayaking, and enjoying the aura of the bay. You get free roam while kayaking – me and my husband found a little beach with no one around, it was so beautiful.Fully recommend the Starlight cruise and I 100% recommend the 3 day itinerary. Awesome experience in one of the most gorgeous places I have ever visited.

"A Little Honeymoon on the Starlight Cruise"

Starlight Cruise

In a few words: amazing, clean, attentive, friendly, fun, exciting, informative, beautiful. The staff were absolutely brilliant and never let us down once. The cabin was very nice and had  a lot of room to leave our stuff and move around freely. The bathroom had a lovely jacuzzi and a nie window where you can bathe with the beautiful sights of Halong Bay just outside. We had lots of privacy despite the fact that we were on one vessel with a bunch of other people. It genuinely felt like a mini-cruise ship (it had mini golf, a sauna and a spa) and all of the activities that we did off the boat were really fantastic. We went to a local fishing village, a cave, did some great kayaking and then returned to the boat and did a cooking class while sipping on cocktails. There was karaoke and squid fishing after dinner and we woke up early to enjoy the sunrise on the top deck. Busy! But so so good. The chef was absolutely excellent and served us many beautiful dishes over the course of our cruise. The dinner was multiple courses so we got to experience lots of different Vietnamese delights that we probably wouldn’t have known about on our own.I could go on and on about the fantastic experiences we had on this cruise but you should really just book with the Starlight Cruise – you won’t be let down.

"Sweet Experience with Starlight Cruise"

Starlight Cruise

Me and my husband went with the 2 day option but really wish we had gone for the longer version in retrospect. Very clean and comfortable cabins, excellent food and first rate attentive service by the staff. Our guide was called Nguyen Lang, but went by Lance for ease of pronunciation, and he was very professional, fun and informative. We had a lot of questions about the bay and he answered them all perfectly. The scenery is obviously the main reason we were there; it was unbelievable – I’ve never seen anything like it. We woke up to complete silence and a perfectly still boat (I had a few worries about potential sea sickness, but this was not a problem at all) – it was a moment I will never forget. The only thing I would mention is the water situation. Bring some water with you from Hanoi as they only give you one 500ml bottle per day, and in the heat of June, this doesn’t last long. Maybe a big water cooler like they have in hotels would work? One other thing that wasn’t really any fault of the Starlight Cruise – our return bus broke down very soon after we left the harbour so we had to join another cruise’s return bus and it wasn’t the same high quality and was a bit cramped. Still arrived back in Hanoi on time and had a thoroughly fantastic time on the Starlight Cruise beforehand!

"Starlight Cruise – Memorable and Truly Romantic"

Starlight Cruise

Tommy took incredible care of us on this trip and we’d like to thank him personally. He was kind, thoughtful and paid very close attention to the little things. He was a joy to have on our tour and he’s an excellent tour guide! The weather was completely on our side for this trip and we had nothing but blue skies the whole time. We loved the food and the scenery but we LOVED the room! It was so spacious and had a gorgeous balcony at the backAll of the activities (pearl farm + kayak + cave + cooking demo + squid fishing + tai chi etc.) were expertly organised and their spacing apart gave us lots of time to chill on the boat. Staff were very well trained and excellent in dealing with our needs. They were very friendly and always approached us with a smile.Spacious cruise, excellent staff (including the wonderful Tommy), fun activities and a beautiful bay. What more could you need?

"Excellent Experience with Starlight Cruise"

Starlight Cruise

Had a brilliant time on the 3-day 2-night itinerary with my boyfriend! The extra day was the perfect addition and we could not have been happier that we booked it. It gave us a chance to do other stuff that the 2 dayers couldn’t, like jumping off the boat, swimming and kayaking in really quiet areas – it’s a day I won’t be forgetting. The boat was so clean and new and the jacuzzi in the bathroom was a massive touch of class. Staff know exactly what customers want most of the time and deliver it with a smile. It’s a set menu lunch and dinner but I’m not such a fan of seafood and they’re very seafood friendly. I only realised on the final day that other customers were telling the staff their likes and dislikes and the staff were changing their meals accordingly, I didn’t think to do that! Anyway, an amazing experience and I’m so glad I went with Starlight Cruise!

"Some Incredible Cabins on the Starlight Cruise!"

Starlight Cruise

We went with Starlight in November 2017 and had booked last minute. This was not a problem as we were still well handled during the booking process. We left in the comfortable minivan at around 8 and stopped at a souvenir place at around 10.30. Tommy was very entertaining on the way as he told us about some of the history of Hanoi and Halong Bay. We embarked on the ship as soon as we arrived and got to enjoy the first sight of our beautiful cabin, with the en suite bathroom and massive balcony. We kayaked around a floating village that afternoon and had a very nice time discovering the lies of the locals. Lots of fish, meat and vegetables on offer for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was nothing to write home about. I want to thank Tommy for keeping us entertained throughout – excellent work!

"Excellent Starlight Cruise"

Starlight Cruise

Had a wonderful time with my fiancé aboard the Starlight Cruise. We had great service from as soon as we walked on board with the staff giving us towels and tea. We were very surprised with the jacuzzi in the bathroom! That must have slipped us by while we were researching. The cabins were comfortable and looked just as great as they do in the official photos. Our tour guide was called Mr Jackie. He was excellent in his role and really gave us a detailed but easy to understand history of Halong Bay. So many activities, we never got bored! The cooking class and squid fishing off the boat were fun and a good way to meet other passengers. We also went to a fishing village and pearl farm on a bamboo boat, which was nice. Lots of time to enjoy the fantastic scenery and wonderful meals served on board. What a beautiful time we had, thank you Starlight Cruise!

"Great Free Upgrade to the Starlight"

Starlight Cruise

Me and my friends were treated to a free upgrade to the Starlight Cruise as we went to book with another cruise in the company and they were already full. Very lucky for us! Service and food were top notch! We weren’t expecting the 8 course meals but they were a nice surprise. Bathroom with built-in jacuzzi as well. It was a great experience but the other passengers were much older than us, seeing as it’s a luxury cruise and backpackers don’t tend to go on these! Nevertheless, we talked to the staff who were all very nice and friendly. Would definitely recommend this tour, maybe not for backpackers looking for likeminded travellers, but for people with a bit of money and a bit more life experience.
