Halong Bay from October 10 to 11, 2019! That was very cool! The views are breathtaking! You find yourself in another world. Kayaking on the bay, were in a cave. For dinner there were unforgettable oysters! Our guide David is very attentive and helpful!
Great Ha Long Bay tour with Swan Cruise. A small group of 8 people took us directly from the hotel in Hanoi. About 4 hours on the road and we are on the spot in the picturesque bay of Ha Long. We were put on a good ship and miraculously fed. To be honest, I couldn’t even eat everything. Lots of seafood. Guide Kim told us in great detail and comprehensively about the bay, about fishing villages and about Vietnam in general. According to the program, we visited a fishing village and a small cave, as well as a white sand beach. Beautiful views, a great pastime. Recommend.
We booked a cruise with an overnight stay with Swan Cruises. Am very satisfied. Our guide Jenny was super nice and helpful, good English, knowledgeable and had a lot of humor. The food is amazing. The tour includes kayaking, a while on the beach, Thai chi, cave visits and a demonstration on how to cut vegetables in Vietnamese. Highly recommend this tour!
Had a fantastic day despite some hazy weather and rain. The day offered a good lunch aboard the boat, a boat trip with bamboo boats through their fishing village, visit of a cave and beach and a little teaching how to make your own spring rolls! The lunch consisted of seafood and is exciting to test if you have not eaten crab, octopus or oysters before. Tasted good! The guide Tom Cruise was charming and knowledgeable. Informed clearly and well about the schedule of the day. Good English. He also showed on board the boat how to sculpt a rose in a watermelon. Incredibly talented and cool to watch! Highly recommend Swan Cruise if you are running out of time but want to experience a lot! We booked the day before and there was no problem with places! Pick-up and drop-off outside the hotel in Hanoi.
Had an excellent two-day cruise with Swan Cruises. Thanks to the guide Jenny's commitment, the food onboard and the program, it was a successful trip. It was also good to have the same guide who picked us up on the boat. She could program programs with other interesting things about the country so it was not so compressed. I can recommend Swan. As soon as we arrived to the warm reception of the staff and saw the lovely boat, we regretted not booking for 3 days instead of 2.This was compounded when we met our guide Hang, who was a lovely, caring girl and an excellent guide. Our twin room was perfect for me and my friend. We had nice beds and a clean, cozy bathroom.I don’t think I ever have to eat anything as long as I live – there was so much food and even thinking about it now makes me feel full! It was also of outstanding quality and I would be happy if that was my last ever meal. The kayaking and the swimming were excellent fun, and it was nice to get out in the bay, even if it was a bit cold. Swan Cruises seems to go on a route that isn’t too keen on caves, there was just the one cursory stop-off before we headed back to the shore. We got a lot out of Halong Bay but would have gotten more on 3 day cruise. I don’t think anyone could ever tire of that place, so me and my friend are looking to return some day soon, and we will definitely book with the Swan Cruise
Excellent trip onboard the Swan Cruise around Halong Bay for 3 days! We had the time and had not spent too much money on our trip through Vietnam, so we decided to end the tour with the 3 days cruise. We went during the rainy season so we were not too disappointed when the heavens opened, but it would have been a lot better if they hadn’t!All the passengers and the crew were determined for the rain not to ruin our good time the itinerary went ahead as planned. We were welcomed on board by the wonderful crew, who served us fantastically throughout. Kien was our terrific tour guide – he was so nice and helpful, and he knew a lot about the areas where we were sailing.I’d heavily recommend the longer cruise as the shorter one doesn’t give you all that much time to enjoy the bay. We were very glad to have that full day in between the two half days. It’s a 4 hour drive there and a 4 hour drive back, so it makes more sense to aim for the 3 day affair for more time between transits.100% will be recommending to everyone. Bravo, Swan Cruise, Kien and your crew!
I really loved everything aboard the Swan Cruise. The crew were especially fantastic and I’d like to mention our wonderful guide Kien for the great job he did in looking after everyone. It can’t be easy to keep 24 people happy at the same time but he worked tirelessly to make sure that this was the case. We did the 2 day cruise and thought that it was plenty of time to see the best bits of the bay and get a taste of the relaxation. Kayaking was the most fun activity that we did. We saw some hidden caves and sandy beaches from the seats of our kayaks, which was very nice. The cave was so-so, but it was something to do, so I don’t mind. The food on the boat was outstanding and the crew were very professional as they dealt with my shellfish allergy in a very serious manner. I felt very safe in their company! The squid fishing was not quite was I was expecting. I thought we would all head out on the smaller boat and fish from the sides, but it stayed attached to the main ship and we just dangled our ropes on sticks into the water. Not much going on there but overall, a really nice cruise. Keep it up, Kien, crew and the Swan Cruise!
My friend and I have recently returned to our hostel after a lovely 3 days and 2 nights cruise in Halong Bay. On the way to the cruise, and on the first day, we had Flower as our guide. She’s a very sweet girl who told us all about her hometown, Hanoi, as well as Halong Bay. Once we arrived, we walked into our small, but nicely decorated room. The only thing lacking was a place to put our big bags. Clean bathroom that had everything we needed, but the toilet is super close to the wall and my knees were actually touching it when I sat down. We had some relaxed kayaking and swimming that day and a wonderfully tasty dinner in the evening.Ha took over for the second day and showed us around the bay via kayak. We went to a floating village and visited a pearl farm that was next to it. It was raining the whole time but we didn’t mind – it just added to the atmosphere! We rejoined the boat and got our final guide, Kien, who was excellent and very knowledgeable about the cave he took us to on the final day.Guides aside, the food was incredibly nice and we duly ate mountains of food and were crammed at the end. Not much excitement during the breakfast buffet, but the simple selection was still tasty.Back to the guides! We loved all of them and the crew in general. They made being in the rain fun and were very caring of us overall. I know that this is basically the same copy-and-paste itinerary that most cruises have in Halong Bay, but the guides managed to make it more fun and individualised to us. It was a special experience and I would love to come back on the Swan Cruise if I can!
We did the 3-day, 2-night cruise and had a fantastic time doing so! The room was very nice, but what was best was the amazing young crew, who genuinely seemed pleased that we were pleased – you can’t train that!Hats off to the amazing chef, who made food that wildly surpassed our expectations! We had three guides over the 3 different days. I’m not sure if that’s normal or if there’s any way that can be avoided, but it was a little difficult saying hi and bye to three different guides in the space of 48 hours. Our first guide, Flower, was a real delight. She is bubbly and an excellent conversationalist, as well as fun and very sweet too. She made sure we were safe and having fun at all times. She stayed up with us late into the evening, purely by choice, and we chatted about everything. She is an excellent tour guide but could be even better if she knew a little bit more about the bay and told us more about the wildlife and plants and stuff while kayaking. We had a great second day with Ha as our tour guide. It was cold and rainy but we didn’t mind, so we went out kayaking anyway. Ha seemed generally disinterested in the whole thing and was pretty determined for us (or maybe herself) to get out of the rain and back onto the day boat. We pushed on regardless, and I think we were entitled to considering the extra cost we all paid for this second day. Although we were all good swimmers, there was no check for this and we didn’t receive any life jackets. I think Ha could use a bit more training, personally.Things got right back on track with Kien, who was a great tour guide. Very positive and checked to make sure we were all safe. He knows a lot about Halong Bay and it is great to listen to him talking about it. He is hilarious and just an all-round lovely human being. He had great games for us that evening and we enjoyed chatting with him afterwards. In my opinion, he’s the perfect guide and I have no suggestions for his improvement!I do, however, have some minor suggestions for the Swan Cruise:It would be better to have one guide if possible, as keeping up with 3 can be a little tiring. For the same reason, it would be nice to have one group of 3 dayers and one group of 2 dayers on separate boats, as everyone on the 2 day trip leaves when you go out for your second day, and you return to a whole new bunch of people and have to start all over again. If there’s a way to have it so that you’re with one group and guide for the whole time, that would be ideal!I know I talked about the guides a lot but they seriously did make our trip extra special! They are the reason that I am recommending Swan Cruise to all my friends!
We received some excellent service the whole trip with Swan Cruise. Daisy was especially great. She was our lovely tour guide who made everything really fun, and we enjoyed many good laughs with her. Me and my friends all felt like we were very lucky to get her as our guide! The activities were great. We went kayaking and to a cave and did some spring roll cooking on the ship. The dinner came after this and it was so delicious! The presentation of the food was quite amazing considering that we were on a cruise boat and the chefs had about 30 different people to serve about 6 different courses to! It’s the little things that make it so great. It was raining hard for most of the time we were in Halong Bay but Daisy even managed to make that fun. We kayaked in the rain and had a thoroughly fantastic time! The bay looks so amazing, even during a rainstorm, and the sounds are absolutely beautiful. Thanks Daisy and the rest of the crew for a wonderful time! I really cannot wait to be back on the Swan cruise.
Just arrived back in Hanoi and couldn’t wait to get this review up – Swan Cruise earned a lot of respect from my family during our time with them and we felt it only right to leave them a positive review for their excellent services. The ship is a little worn but still clean and very comfortable. The rooms and neat and the bathrooms are very clean, if a little basic. We were driven by some experienced crewmen and waiting on by some amazing young Vietnamese guys, who deserve a lot of credit for their work. They were very accommodating of dietary requirements and were all happy to chat with their guests. Special mention to Viet, who was a lovely young guy and worked very hard to improve his English – good luck to him!Throughout the whole tour, we were also blessed with the company of Linda, who had incredible English and had an insane databank of knowledge about the area. She was also just a very sweet girl with a big heart. She was very much a part of our tour and just felt like another guest that we totally trusted. We even helped her to swim, which is not something she could do before! That was amazing in itself.Besides our big family, there were 2 other families and the kids got on really well. We had some great company on that cruise and that really only helped it push our opinions higher! The one negative that came up was no fault of Swan Cruise, but of the board that manages Halong Bay. There was quite a lot of rubbish in the water and it hampered our swimming and kayaking a little bit, plus it was just not nice to look at and can’t be good for the fish and plant life here.Overall, great cruise. I hope me and my family can be back some day!
What a fantastic time we’ve just had in Bai Tu Long Bay with Swan Cruise. This is a long one, so bear with me…We decided on the longer 3 day option as opposed to the 2 day. We had a bit of time in Hanoi and weren’t rushed, so this decision was an easy one. It took us about 4 hours to get to the bay in the minibus, but the seats were a little too small for me so it wasn’t the most comfortable ride. We started our cruise with lunch, swimming, kayaking and a little party on the deck for sunset, where snacks were served, before a fantastic full dinner was served in the restaurant downstairs. We decided to enjoy a lie-in rather than get up for the Tai Chi. This was followed by breakfast at 8am and then we were moved onto the day boat. We had lots of kayaking opportunities and the chance to see a floating village. We had lunch and more relaxing before going back to the Swan Cruise and joining a new group of people, as the other group had left and we were merged with this new 2 day-1 night group. After another delicious dinner, we went squid fishing off the back of the boat, although the chance to watch the World Cup on a TV in the dining room was always there. We had an absolutely killer time on the cruise but there are a few things that could do with improvement. The bathroom had a very dim light and the bed was not the most comfortable. Over the 48 hours that we were in the bay, we had 3 different guides, when it would have been so much better to just have 1. Our guide for the second day, Ha, was a bit strange and she actively tried to persuade us to stop kayaking because she wasn’t feeling in the mood for it (she actually told us that herself). Pretty unprofessional from a tour guide, I have to say. However, the highlights far outstripped the negatives. We had beautiful food, a wonderful crew to look after us, some great excursions in the bay and a fantastic tour guide at the end, Kien, who was a lot more positive than Ha and made us laugh with his great anecdotes. Our first guide Flower was also lovely and was determined for us to enjoy ourselves – which we did! Thanks Swan Cruise!
Lots of events to take part in and a wonderful time spent on the Swan Cruise. We especially loved the kayaking and going to the cave. We came back after activities to have a sunset party on the boat, which was very fun and we met a lot of people through this!Flower was our amazing tour guide and she really lit this tour up for us. She was so sweet and caring and she didn’t want anyone to have even a tiny bit of a bad time! She worked very hard to make this happen and had a great sense of humour while doing so. We had a musical performance after dinner when she sang, and she nailed it! The Swan Cruise should do their best to hold onto her, she’s a real gem! Can’t recommend the Swan Cruise enough, and especially Flower for this fantastic time in Halong Bay.
The pictures we got of Bai Tu Long Bay look exactly like the ones you get in Halong Bay. But by going to Bai Tu Long, we had access to quieter waters which were cleaner as well. There is virtually no congestion at any point and you actually get to enjoy the sensation of freedom when you’re standing on the top deck and can’t see another cruise ship for miles. All of the extra touches applied by our wonderful tour guide Kien were what made this cruise for us. Kien has a great passion for showing people his beautiful country, and he knew the best places to take us to get the best experiences. We went kayaking through some totally clean water, went up close to the islands and had a magical moment in the cave when it was raining. The whole time, Kien looked after us and was very informative, caring and funny. Everything else about the cruise was also great – including the food and the cabin. The rest of the staff were also friendly and gave us some interesting spring roll crafting lessons! Fantastic tour, thanks Swan Cruise.
Had a great time on the 1 night trip in Halong Bay. It seemed that we left earlier than the usual pick up time for other cruises to avoid the traffic and give us more time in the bay. Lots of the reviews that I’d read were about crowded boats and the bay being full of tourists. Can’t say I saw the same, though I know Swan Cruise goes to a different bay than most of the other cruises. Once we had returned to the cruise, I did see more boats descending upon our location, which confirmed to me that our decision was the right one.The food was really tasty and the cabins were fantastically appointed with everything that we needed. The cruise may be a little older than most but it wasn’t really noticeable and it didn’t hamper our enjoyment of the bay at all.Swan Cruises have an excellent guide in Kien. He was so welcoming and friendly, and ran the tours in a very efficient and organised manner. We sat with him for a while on the boat, talking about anything and everything. Great guy, great crew. Cheers!
So pleased with how the cruise went. It was a lovely experience and I am very happy to have shared it with my family, who also enjoyed it immensely. Pick-up was perfectly on time and my young son couldn’t wait to get out on kayaks. We enjoyed ourselves on the water and again later that night, when we went squid fishing. I was crowned champion squid fisher by the crew as I caught two big ones! Excellent service on the cruise and the staff were very approachable and flexible. It was easy to talk to them and we very much enjoyed their company. The boat itself is comfortable, not too big, and our cabins were fantastic. All 4 meals were really delicious and the staff were very considerate of our vegetarian diets. They brought us out some special vegetarian food and then pointed out the vegetarian-friendly food in the buffet. Great service and Swan Cruise has my 100% approval and recommendation!
Just returned from a 2-day trip to Halong Bay on the Swan Cruise with my husband and some friends. Straight from pick-up we had some wonderful service and have to thank Kien specifically for the wonderful shift that he put in to serve us with a smile. He was very fun company and also very knowledgeable about the bay. It seemed like the itinerary of the Swan Cruises goes to some more quiet areas of the bay. We enjoyed a lot of time out in the bay, swimming and kayaking and visiting the cave there. Cabins and food were both amazing. The only point I could make is that the ship appears to be one of the older ones in the bay. For me, this adds a bit of charm, but some of my friends mentioned it on more than one occasion.
Definitely got our money’s worth here. I would have been prepared to pay more– it’s cheaper than I expected considering the services that you get.We met our guide Daisy during the afternoon, she was really wonderful and excellently organised. She knew a lot about the bay and greeted us with a beaming smile whenever she saw us. She took us out into the bay to go kayaking and swimming, then brought us back for a bit of relaxation and some dinner. All of the food was phenomenal and we always had an excess of it after meals. There was a great selection of drinks and they were all at a price that we found reasonable. The cave was nothing to write home about, but that was the only thing. The cruise itself is why we were there and we received a fantastic level of service on it. Definitely worth all the money we shelled on this one. Thank you Swan Cruises, Daisy and the rest of the crew on board!
I went with my friend on the Swan Cruise around Bai Tu Long Bay, which is right next to Halong Bay but is much less visited by boats. Pick-up from our hostel was very quick and easy, and the boat trip was smooth sailing even though there was quite a bit of rain about. I was prepared in case I got sea sickness but I didn’t feel anything. Really lovely food. I gorged myself over the 2 days that we were there and the staff even asked if we wanted more after I was bursting at the seams. I politely declined. We had some great staff to take care of us, especially Hoa, who was a wonderful tour guide. She took us kayaking and swimming on the first day and then to a cave on the second day. The cave wasn’t all that great – it was too full of other tourists, but the kayaking and swimming were good and they were excellently guided by Hoa. We wanted a great time from Halong Bay and Swan Cruise delivered perfectly.
I’m lucky to have friends who have been to Halong Bay before and were able to recommend this cruise for me. There is a lot of choice out there and I didn’t feel like putting in hours of research for the cruise. They went with Swan Cruises and recommend it, and I have to say, they were totally brilliant! We had the Swan 11 on our two day cruise. It was a very nice boat with a great top deck, awesome cabins and a really nice bathroom. The dining and bar area were tastefully decorated and they were where we had some of the fantastic food during the cruise. Drinks aren’t included in the price but the extra cost isn’t that much. Very restful sleep and a great shower in the morning. There was a downpour of rain for pretty much the whole time we were in Halong Bay. Luckily, the staff were very upbeat and positive about everything, so we ended up having a great time on the boat with them. We still managed to go out kayaking and visiting the cave when it wasn’t pouring down, and we got back to the boat to learn how to make spring rolls and catch squid at night. Hang was a star – very funny, interesting and informed on the comings and goings of the bay.I know Halong Bay is expensive but it really is one of those once-in-a-lifetime kind of moments. We’re glad we went with Swan Cruise – they made it very enjoyable and it will be a long-living memory. Thank you to Hang and everyone else on the Swan Cruise 11 – you were great!
I was a bit wary before booking as I had heard some stories of people who had been scammed. I was careful in my booking and I’m very glad that I went with the Swan Cruise in the end.Fantastic cruise and room, all very comfortable and fresh and just the perfect size, not too small or big. Sleek and fun transportation (boat, tender, kayak). It was a perfect medium size and didn’t feel too cramped or too big.Lots of beautiful scenery all around. The kayaking was the best for getting into it all. There’s still time in the itinerary to relax on the cruise and enjoy it all, even it does feel a little rushed sometimes. Our guide Hang was very professional and funny. She’s very energetic and has a great approach to her job. The rest of the crew were also fantastic and did their jobs very well. There is a LOT of food served during the meal times. This is probably worth the price of the cruise itself! Excellent stuff from Swan Cruise.
We spent 2 days and 1 night on the Swan Cruise, with Flower as our wonderful tour guide. Every question I had, she had the answer to. She is a very knowledgeable girl and is very friendly as well. We talked as if we had known each other for years, she is so easy to get on with! Thanks to her for really making our trip special. We loved the kayaking and the gorgeous scenery in Halong Bay, which we watched a lot from the top deck of the boat. The food was incredibly tasty and our bartender was great. I can’t quite remember his name, but he knows a bit of Mandarin so we talked in that for a while, which was nice.Great to meet so many people from different countries as well.Swan Cruises really is the way to go here. Fantastic cruise all round.
